John Ware Families,
We are only a week away from the beginning of the school year! Included in the update are a few reminders to families and students:
- Homeroom teacher email
- Office hours
- School Supplies
- Cell phone policy (Provincial mandate)
- Gym Strip
Office Hours
The office will reopen at a limited capacity starting Thursday, August 28. A return to full-time hours of 8:00 am – 3:30 pm will begin on Tuesday, September 2.
Thursday, August 28 Office Open 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Friday, August 29 Office Open 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Homeroom Assignments & Schedules
Families will receive an email from their child’s homeroom teacher on Thursday, August 28 at 4:00 pm to welcome them to their classroom. Please respect building balanced classrooms is complex and done with great consideration on the part of staff, leaning needs, and student requests from last year. We are unable to accommodate any requests at this time.
Students’ first day of classes is Tuesday, September 2
- Grade 7 ONLY 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
- Grades 8 & 9 1:10 pm – 3:10 pm
Wed., September 3
- Regular class schedule, 7, 8 & 9 8:30 am – 3:10 pm
Options Classes
When will my child find out their complementary courses and schedule? Each student will be provided with a hard copy of their schedule and locker assignment on the first day of school. Complementary courses will be finalized the week of September 2 once students are back. Our goal is to ensure each student gets their preferred choices (which they selected in June); however, space and availability are limited for some option course selections.
Cell Phone Policy
Phones need to be:
- turned off or set to silent
- stored away in backpacks and in their lockers
- used off campus before school, at lunch and after school
We continue to support students to engage in learning to the best of their ability, which includes limiting distractions during instructional time. Ongoing issues regarding phones will be addressed through progressive discipline. Thank you for your support.
