John Ware Families
Sports activities have started – please see the school’s website for updated game schedules.
We are noticing a very positive energy with our students and staff, and appreciate family’s role in preparing their child(ren) to come ready to learn each day. Please help your child with packing materials for school, offering grab-n-go snacks and options for breakfast, and checking with their Google Classroom/D2L shells to monitor ongoing assignments and upcoming activities. We thank you for your key role in partnering with the school to support your child’s learning and development.
Each year, schools have a variety of forms parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:
- Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
- Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
Please complete your child’s forms on MyCBE by the end of this week.
Terry Fox Run | Pie the Teacher
Students will participate in our annual Terry Fox Run this month, and in an effort to help raise funds for cancer research, students will have the opportunity to “buy” tickets to pie a teacher in the face – when students raise funds, they are eligible for a ticket to enter to pie a teacher in the face at our Terry Fox Pep Rally in October.

Orange Shirt Day | Wednesday, Sept. 25 National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30.
Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.
On September 25, we encourage all staff and students to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.
