October 3 2025 Weekly Update John Ware

Thank You for Your Support

We are grateful for everyone’s support for our Terry Fox Run, and before any other updates, we have raised over $500.00! Students and staff enjoyed a run today and cheered one another on while viewing the much-anticipated Lip Dub.

Labour Action Updates

  • All school athletics, trips and extracurricular activities will be suspended or cancelled. All school-based sports and practices are cancelled from October 6 to 31. When schools resume, decisions will be made at that time to reinstate school activities.
  • Students will have access to D2L and Google Classroom throughout labour action. Teachers will not be monitoring, responding to or assessing student work during the strike.
  • After-hours public rentals in schools will continue.
  • Fees paid at the school for activities that have been cancelled may be adjusted once the strike concludes.

The Alberta government has made financial and learning resources available to families:

  • To access funds, eligible parents must create an account online. Registration and verification can be completed online.
  • Families can also access a learning resources toolkit on the government’s website.
  • We value the contributions of all employees who support student success, and we respect the bargaining process.
  • We are committed to keeping you informed as the situation evolves. If anything changes before Oct. 6, families will be informed. The most up-to-date information can also be found on the labour action page.

We encourage you to visit the labour action page on the CBE website for ongoing updates and more detailed information. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Please note that teaching staff will not have access to their CBE email, D2L/Google Classroom, etc., throughout job action. Ms. Karpa and the Staff Association team (Ms. Karpa, Ms. Vargas, Ms. Donnelly, Ms. Stearn and the Facilities Team) will continue to come to work if you have any questions. The school's main email (johnware@cbe.ab.ca) will be monitored.

We hope to see everyone soon. Stay safe.
