John Ware Families,

We kicked off second semester on Tuesday and students are getting settled into their new courses. Please monitor your PowerSchool accounts in the coming week to address fees for new courses.

We had a great turnout on Thursday evening with many students hosting next year’s grade 7 families. Thank you to our students for helping showcase their passion for sports, arts, clubs and learning. A shout out to Mr. VK who helped as a drop-in actor during drama’s rehearsal…you may have a second calling, VK!

SLC is not available for lunch this week. Classroom spaces and clubs will be open for students.

School Council - Bring a Friend February

We are hoping to have a higher turnout for our upcoming council meeting on Tuesday, February 18. We will be hosting “Bring a Friend February” where parents and guardians are encouraged to bring a friend to the meeting to get to know more about the work at our school. Did you know we don’t spend time talking about how to sell things or fundraise? We’ve had volunteers who worked our last casino to allow us to focus on the fun of spending and enhancing programming opportunities. Come be part of the fun!

Not So Subtle Bribery

Families who attend meetings (in person and online) are eligible to put their child’s name in a draw to win a prize for their homeroom! Prizes could be an extra PE block, additional break time, be a school administrator for the day, or even a pizza party.

We Need You! Join the Executive

We have a few open executive positions which require filling – ask a friend and come together and co-manage a role if possible.

Secretary

Attend meetings and take minutes from the meeting, forward completed notes to council and school administration.

Commitment

1.5 – 2.0 hours per month

Key Communicator

Attend meetings monthly.

Share any information from CBE Trustees (shared via email). Potentially attend system key communicator meetings to build engagement and successfully share ideas for supporting community involvement.

Commitment

1.5 – 2.0 hours per month

Research shows when families are invested in their child’s education and actively engaged in what is happening within the school community, students experience higher levels of success. We need more voices in helping shape opportunities for students and supporting staff in making our school even better.
