We have a very busy week coming up with grade 9s going to Kananaskis to the BioGeo Centre, Orange Shirt Day, Terry Fox Run, our Welcome Back BBQ and Conferences.

Orange Shirt Day

Wednesday, September 25

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 

Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

Students and staff are invited to wear orange for the week of September 23-27 as treaty people in recognition of the impact of residential schools and as an act of ReconciliACTION through committing to creating a better world and community for all.

Terry Fox Run | Thursday, September 26

Students will participate in our annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday, September 26 in an effort to help raise funds for cancer research. Families are welcome to come to the school to participate in our school run.

Students have the opportunity to “buy” tickets to pie a teacher in the face – when students raise funds, they are eligible for a ticket to enter to pie a teacher in the face at our Terry Fox Pep Rally in October.

Save the Date | Thursday, September 26 | Welcome Back BBQ

Join us for our annual welcome back BBQ and Open House from 5:00-7:00 pm. Come by to have a hot dog, meet staff and connect with community. 

Parent Conferences | Friday, September 27

Families with students on an Individual Program Plan (IPP) will have the opportunity to meet with home room teachers to review previous recommended goals and strategies in setting direction for the year’s IPP goals. Meetings can be held in person, on Microsoft Teams, or via phone. Families will receive an email with a link and are asked to complete the survey prior to meeting in an effort to make good use of time in setting goals.

October 15 & 16 | Please sign up to give the gift of your time in our most important fundraiser. This provides the school with much needed funding (up to $70 000.00) to purchase equipment for classes, fund special events and speakers, and provide quality resources to enhance learning for all students.

Going Shopping? Consider Picking Up Extras for Hungry Kids

We have many growing bodies, who need a little extra each day. If you notice a great deal on snack items, please consider throwing an extra box in your cart to donate to the school to support kids who need some additional food. Many thanks.

  • Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.

Cell Phone Policy | Alberta Government Mandate

Phones need to be:

  • turned off or set to silent
  • stored away in backpacks in their lockers
  • used off campus before school, at lunch and after school 

We continue to support students to engage in learning to the best of their ability, which includes limiting distractions during instructional time. Thank you for your support. 

If you need to reach your child during the day, please call the office 403-777-7930 and we will get a message to them. 

Student Health Plan

Families are asked to complete and submit a student health plan: 

  • if a physical or medical condition may affect the student’s attendance at school;
  • if medication is to be taken at school; and
  • reviewed and updated annually or sooner if there is a change in the student’s health concern or school registration.

Gym Strip

Students must change each day for gym class.

  • John Ware t-shirt (required for SLC)
  • Athletic bottoms (shorts, sweats, leggings, etc.) *can bring from home
  • Sweatshirt / hoodie (for outdoor classes & walking to SLC) *can bring from home
  • Athletic shoes – no boots, Crocs, sandals, etc.
