Thank You for Your Support | New Tech

We recently acquired two class sets of headphones for students to use when learning. We also purchased 70 new ChromeBook laptops, and a number of iPads to enhance learning through the funds raised from our School Council Society and casino funds. Thank you for your time to make these materials available to students!

Hobby Haven New Club

Hobby Haven is a new student-led club where all are welcome to come and develop their art skills. It will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 6. If you have any craft / art supplies that you would like to donate to the club, please send them into the school. - Fabric and notions - yarn - knitting needles - Crochet hooks - cotton thread for cross stitch - paint brushes and sponges - glue, glitter, paper, googly eyes, etc.

School fees cover course fees, activities, and field trips. Starting this year, you must first apply for a Central Fee Waiver to be considered for a school-based fee waiver. This application will be part of the review process for waiving school-based fees. To begin the application process for a fee waiver, click the link below and follow the instructions for the central fee waiver. This will provide John Ware School with information about the economic or other barriers your family is facing. Request a fee waiver Once you receive an email confirming the completion of the central review, please contact Ms. Karpa to discuss the school fees you are requesting to be waived. We understand affordability can be a challenge, and we are dedicated to providing every student with a high-quality education, regardless of their family’s ability to pay fees.

Grade 9 Optional Sailing Trip | Spring 2025

We are planning our trip for April 14-18 2025 for students in grade 9 to participate in a multi- day optional trip to Victoria, British Columbia for a sailing trip. This year we are sailing with SEAS. 

Parent Meeting: November 19 at 5:00 PM 

Optional trips such as these are a unique opportunity to participate in learning from a different location alongside peers and staff.

Optional trips are paid fully by families and

bursaries are not available. The cost of the trip is approximately $3 000.00 including flights, transportation, meals, instruction and all activities for the duration of the trip. *Tsuut’ina Education offers bursaries to support families who live on the Nation. MS Teams.

Mental Health Resource Summit

The Summit is designed and built to provide mental health services for children and youth. The centre offers therapeutic support through a day hospital and community based treatment. It also provides walk-in services for anyone under 18 years of age and their family who would like to speak with a counselor. Walk-in services do not require a referral. When in crisis, families can see a psychologist and be assessed where they will make a plan and can also connect them to resources in the community. Skills for Safer Living - Centre for Suicide Prevention

Skills for Safer Living (SfSL) is a four-week group program for youth ages 12-24 who have suicide ideation and their caregivers. This program is being offered at no cost. www.suicideinfo.ca

Fair Entry | Financial Resource

Fair Entry is an application process for subsidized City of Calgary programs and services. This process will assess your income eligibility for multiple City programs with a single application. Just recently, High-Speed Low-Cost Internet and other telecom services have been added to the list of services available through Fair Entry.

Cellphone Policy | Alberta Government Mandate

Phones need to be:

  • turned off or set to silent
  • stored away in backpacks in their lockers
  • used off campus before school, at lunch and after school
